A glass filled with water, with a single leaf floating on it. Hold your hand above it and pour in your aura with Ren — the change that appears in the water reveals your Nen type.
First, a few questions to read the temperament of your aura. After that, you pour your own aura into the glass.
Water Divination (mizumishiki) means floating a single leaf on a glass of water, holding your hand above it, pouring in your aura with Ren, and reading the change that appears in the water and the leaf to identify your own Nen type. Wing teaches it to Gon and Killua as a method handed down in the Shingen-ryu school, and Pokkle calls it the simplest and most common way to do it. It does not have to be water, and what floats on top does not have to be a leaf — those simply make the change easiest to see.
Six questions about your personality give a reading of your aura’s temperament. They follow the aura personality analysis attributed to a certain magician — Enhancers are simple and single-minded, Transmuters are whimsical, and so on. After that it is your turn to perform Ren on the glass. When the aura is full, you see how the water answers. The result screen also shows the personality traits of your type and, based on the hexagonal chart, how efficiently you could learn the other five.
