Lani's racing career
3 JRA wins and the 2016 UAE Derby (G2). He became the first Japanese-trained horse to run in all three US Triple Crown races, finishing third in the Belmont Stakes.

He went to America alone and ran the whole Triple Crown, Kentucky Derby to Belmont: nobody from Japan had done that. Fierce, unmistakable, and adored by a devoted following even in training. He left stud in the autumn of 2025 and now lives with company at a retirement farm in Hidaka.
