Apollo Dolce after racing

An American-bred speedster, he won the Keio Hai Nisai Stakes as the favourite in only his third start after debuting in the autumn of 2007, and the following year he took on the best sprinters in the Ibis Summer Dash down the Niigata straight and in the Sprinters Stakes. He moved to Hyogo at five, ended his racing career in 2012 and has lived at the Grace Riding Club in Okayama City since that autumn. He has managed chronic laminitis for more than a decade, yet the club's log for January 2026 records him trotting soundly again in hand, and he has been supported by the Meritorious Horse Keeping Support Programme since 2016.
