Can you visit Big Week?
Visits are possible all year round. No contact is needed and you can simply turn up: viewing is free and unguided, with display hours from 9:00 to 16:00 (10:00-16:00 in winter) and Wednesdays closed, though the centre sometimes opens during Golden Week and the summer holidays, so check the business calendar on the official site. Access inside the stables is restricted, and groups are asked to telephone on the day of their visit (0859-53-8211). The centre asks visitors not to feed the grass growing on the grounds and to let staff know before posting photographs on social media.

Big Week's racing career
21 JRA starts and 4 wins on the flat plus 5 starts and 1 win over jumps, for 26 starts, 5 wins and 219.127 million yen in earnings. He took the 2010 Kikuka Sho (GI) as the seventh favourite under Yuga Kawada, holding Rose Kingdom in second, and was third in the Kobe Shimbun Hai (GII) the same year. In July 2013, at the age of six, he switched to jumps, won a maiden hurdle at Chukyo and also contested the Hanshin Jump Stakes (JGIII).
Big Week after racing
Still in the 5-million-yen class in the summer of his three-year-old season, he came out of a third place in the Kobe Shimbun Hai to overturn his odds as seventh favourite in the Kikuka Sho, holding off Rose Kingdom over 3,000 metres at Kyoto to end up on top of his generation. When the wins dried up on the flat as an older horse he was sent jumping at six, won his first start over obstacles and went on to try graded company. After retirement he served as a riding horse with the equestrian club of Kyoto Sangyo University, moved to the Daisen Riding Center in Tottori in March 2020, and in 2022 his mane was entrusted to a kagura troupe in Shimane, where it lives on as the beards and hair of their masks.
