Can you visit Hishi Miracle?

Visits are seasonal: as of September 2026 the farm page gives 16 June to the end of December as the open period, with viewing from 09:00 to 11:00 (suspended in spring during the breeding season). You phone the Hidaka Racehorse Hometown Information Centre (0146-43-2121) on the day itself, and no guidance is available when the centre is closed (Tuesdays in summer; weekends, public holidays and the New Year period in winter). Only Hishi Miracle, at the satellite yard, can be seen — the main yard is off limits — and groups must give notice in advance. A visit may be called off at short notice depending on the weather or the horse’s condition.

Hishi Miracle's racing career

6 wins from 28 JRA starts, with three G1s: the 2002 Kikuka Sho and the 2003 Tenno Sho (Spring) and Takarazuka Kinen. Voted best horse by a domestic sire in 2003.

Hishi Miracle after racing

An extraordinary stayer who kept winning big races as an outsider, causing an upset in all three of his GI victories. Since retiring he has lived at a farm in Urakawa, close to where he was born, taking on teaser duties during the breeding season and still going strong at twenty-seven. During the open season fans travel from all over the country to see the grey veteran, and gifts of fresh grass arrive from across Japan.

How to support Hishi Miracle

Simply turning up at the farm helps too: admission and anything you buy there goes towards upkeep. Five ways in are set out in how to support a retired racehorse.
