Can you visit Field Rouge?

Visits are free but must be arranged by contacting the farm the day before, and you must call again on the day itself and be given permission before coming. Reception is 8:00-11:00 in summer (April to October) and 9:00-12:00 in winter (November to March), with visits suspended over the New Year period. Some of the horses bite, so speak to the staff before looking around; do not touch the horses or give them food, and note that access inside the stables is restricted.

Field Rouge's racing career

Twenty-four starts and seven wins under the JRA, plus six starts and two wins in regional racing, for 30 starts and 9 wins in all. He took the Nagoya Grand Prix (JpnII) in 2007 and the Kawasaki Kinen (JpnI) in 2008, and contested the top of Japan's dirt scene with a third place in the 2006 Japan Cup Dirt (G1) and a second in the 2007 running. His registration as a racehorse was cancelled in November 2011.

By Croco Rouge, a sire with no great reputation, he nonetheless spent his career on the main dirt route and claimed an interregional G1 title in the 2008 Kawasaki Kinen. After racing he worked as a lead pony at Hakodate Racecourse, then at Bajikoen and with a university equestrian club, carrying riders in one job after another, before moving to Tosa Kuroshio Farm in Kochi at the end of 2014. Now 24, he spends his days with companions in a wide paddock, and the farm reported in November 2025 that he is doing well.
