Dream Pollini's racing career
16 starts without a win on the flat in JRA racing plus 5 unplaced starts over jumps, and 37 starts for 18 wins in regional racing: 58 starts, 18 wins, 37.108 million yen in earnings. Three winless years and 21 starts in JRA racing were followed by a transformation after his 2016 move to Sonoda, where he won 6 of 7 that first season and 5 of 8 in 2017. In 2019 he moved to the South Kanto circuit and won 6 of 12 for 19.76 million yen on the year, taking the November Star Sho at Kawasaki on 19 November as the favourite (jockey Taito Mori, second Booster). His best run in a graded race was fourth in the Himeyama Kikka Sho over 1,700m of dirt at Sonoda on 4 October 2019, and his final start was second in the Ryoshu Tokubetsu at Kawasaki on 15 September 2020.
Dream Pollini after racing
By Taiki Shuttle out of Cool Lady. He went 21 starts without a win in JRA racing, on the flat and over jumps, then changed completely after moving to Sonoda in 2016 at the age of four, winning 6 of 7 in his first season there. After two years at Sonoda he crossed to the South Kanto circuit, where in 2019 his closing kick over sprint trips brought six wins at Kawasaki and Funabashi and a sharp rise in his annual earnings. He left racing in the autumn of 2020 and since February 2021 has lived at Clover Ranch in Yamanakako, Yamanashi, as a horse in TCC Japan's Uma Share programme. A member of staff there writes an update roughly once a week, so visitors can read about the care taken over stress behaviours — weaving in his stall, chewing the rails — and about the ongoing work to correct his hind-leg action and posture.
