Air Guts's racing career
5 wins from 32 JRA starts. He took the 1997 Radio Tampa Sho (G3) and was third in both the Asahi Hai Sansai Stakes and the St Lite Kinen. He also ran the classics — ninth in the Satsuki Sho and sixth in the Japanese Derby — won the Toki Stakes in 1999 and was struck off the register in the autumn of 2000.
Air Guts after racing
A son of Mejiro Ryan who won the Radio Tampa Sho in 1997 and lined up in both the Satsuki Sho and the Japanese Derby. After his racing days he spent years carrying students as a university equestrian club mount, rested in Hokkaido, and from the autumn of 2021 lived out his retirement at Bokka no Sato in Gujo, Gifu. Friendly by nature, he went on greeting visitors to the park until he died on 17 September 2026 at the age of 32. As it happened, that was the very day on which this site last confirmed where he was living.
