Osumi Daido's racing career

21 starts, 4 wins and ¥99.493 million in JRA racing, plus 1 start without a win in regional racing at Sonoda, for a career total of 22 starts and 4 wins. He won the Daily Hai Nisai Stakes (GII) in 2006 and finished third in that year's Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes (GI), and also took the Shirayuri Stakes (open) in 2007 and the Nojigiku Stakes (open) in 2006.

Osumi Daido after racing

In the summer and autumn of his two-year-old season he reeled off three straight wins under Yutaka Take — his debut, the Nojigiku Stakes and the Daily Hai Nisai Stakes — starting favourite every time, and the runner-up in that graded race was Laurel Guerreiro, who would later win sprint GIs in both spring and autumn. Sent off favourite for the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, he could only finish third, two-tenths of a second behind Dream Journey; after the following spring's NHK Mile Cup his win in the Shirayuri Stakes proved to be his last, and he ended his racing career in a single run at Sonoda late in his seven-year-old season. Just six weeks after retiring, in January 2012, he arrived at Tosa Kuroshio Farm in Susaki, Kochi, where he is now spending his 15th autumn at the age of 22.
