The Sunday Fusaichi's racing career
Three wins from 41 starts. Sold for 490 million yen at the 2004 Select Sale, a record price at the time, he was found to have fractured a bone straight after his debut and spent a long spell recovering. He finally broke his maiden after returning, raced on until the age of eleven, and then stood at stud.
The Sunday Fusaichi after racing
By Dance in the Dark out of Air Groove, he carried enormous expectations and changed hands for 490 million yen at the 2004 Select Sale — a record price at the time. Yet a fracture soon after his debut, and then the seizure of the horse over his owner’s business troubles, piled hardship on hardship, and his win tally stopped at three. He raced on all the same until the age of eleven, stood at stud, and from the autumn of 2021 lived quietly at Midori no Uma Farm in Narita, Chiba. After injuring his left foreleg in February 2026 he remained under treatment, and he passed away on 29 April that year at the age of twenty-two.
