Selberg after racing
By Epiphaneia, bred by Takeshi Maetani in Shinhidaka, he raced for Takashi Suzuki's stable at Ritto and later moved to Shinichiro Akiyama's. He won his debut at Hanshin in October of his two-year-old season, reached open class with back-to-back allowance wins in the spring at four, and in July took the Chukyo Kinen for his first graded win, leading from the gate and holding on to the line. After the Rigel Stakes at the end of his seven-year-old season, an incomplete tear of the right fore sesamoid ligament was found and he retired. He was gelded and tried for a riding-horse career, but pain returned with hard work, so on August 4, 2026 he joined the Retired Horse Association as a foster horse at Lien Horse Club in Kobe. He is turned out in the paddock next to Sonoda's great Jingi.
