Can you visit Super Gene?

According to the Racehorse Hometown Information Centre you may visit on Saturdays and Sundays, from 14:00 to 16:00 between November and June and from 16:00 to 17:00 between July and October. Contact the club at least seven days before your preferred date; group visits are not accepted. The retired merit horse support scheme lists viewing hours of 13:00-16:00, closed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with three days’ notice, and says a visit on one of those closed days must be arranged individually and that you may enter the stable itself. Because the notice period and the hours differ between sources, it is worth checking by telephone (080-6304-2293) before you travel. Pets and selfie sticks are not allowed, and you need permission on site before posting your photographs on social media.

Super Gene after racing

By Soccer Boy out of Meitaizan, whose own sire was Persian Boy, he was sold for 5.25 million yen at the Hokkaido November Sale in 1999 and made his debut for trainer Masanori Sakaguchi at Hanshin in September 2000. It took him eight starts to break his maiden, after which he climbed the conditions grades one win at a time over about 2,500 metres on turf, and he only came into his own in 2004 at the age of six. That year he took his first title in the Niigata Kinen and kept running well in the autumn middle-distance features, finishing second in the All Comers and third in the Argentine Republic Cup, before ending his racing career at Tokyo that November. He then moved to the Daisen Umanose Club in Daisen, Tottori, and has received a grant from the retired merit horse support scheme since 2019. In July 2026 the club announced it had joined the fresh-grass bank and posted photographs showing grass sent by supporters arriving for him.
