Predict a barcode

Enter a JAN/EAN-13 (13 digits) or EAN-8 (8 digits) number. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

This tool exists so you can predict a result and then check it against real hardware. It deliberately has no function that generates or prints a barcode for a character you want. If you find a case where real hardware disagrees with this tool, please say so: a counterexample to the algorithm is the single most valuable thing anyone could send.

Recorded barcodes for each character

Barcodes that were actually scanned on a Datach and written down, one representative example per character. Paste any of them into the box above to see the result. Strength was not a criterion here; these are simply codes known to produce that character.

The product names are as the original recorders wrote them, and have not been verified against physical items here. Some records are more than thirty years old, so a given barcode may no longer correspond to anything on a shelf. See sources and credits for where the data came from.
For the seven forms marked "no product name recorded", codes producing them do exist in the data (67 records across Super Piccolo, Frieza 2nd–4th forms and Cell 1st–3rd forms). In every one of those records the product name field is blank, so there is no way to say which item the barcode came from, and they are not listed here. Why these forms are so scarce is explained in the notes.

Stats are the values in that particular record. The same character comes out with different values from different products. The item slot (senzu beans, dragon balls and so on) is well represented too; the barcode of the novel Jukkakukan no Satsujin, 9784061849792, is one example.
